Grammy nominee Lisa Haley plays progressive Louisiana music in her own neo-traditional zydeco/cajun style. Bringing this roots music to a worldwide audience has taken this fourth-generation "Fiddlist" far beyond a career playing solely traditional genre. Lisa Haley is the protégé of legendary Cajun accordionist Joe Simien, the King of Cajun. Lisa has recorded and/or toured with Sir George Martin (Beatles producer), Grammy-winning artists KebMo', Queen Ida, Al Rapone, Rockin' Sydney ("Don't Mess with My Toot-toot"), Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal, John Hiatt, Brian Setzer, Dave Koz, and a host of others. Her All-Star band “the Zydekats” includes: Skip Edwards, accordion/keyboards (Dwight Yoakam/Johnny Rivers); Chuck Alvarez, guitar (Tim Weisberg); Andy Anders, bass (Cajun accordionist Joe Simien); and New Orleans native Maria Martinez, drums (Rita Coolidge/Johnny Paycheck/Barry White.) Lisa stands out as the most energetic violinist/vocalist in America today. Igniting the spirits of Cajun/Zydeco, Americana, Christian, Jazz, Rock, and Folk fans, she performs worldwide with her All-Star band. Todd Jenkins has said in All About Jazz that Lisa Haley “…marries the blues, country, zydeco, contemporary gospel… in the spirit of Rosanne Cash or the Indigo Girls…[she is] poised to break out on the roots-music market.” Multi-Grammy winner, Keb'Mo', co-producer of Lisa's album “Talking to the Sun” said “Lisa has the Spirit in her, big time... Her music just plain grabs you and takes you over!” More information on Lisa Haley and the Zydecats at www.bluefiddle.com.
