We are blessed to be near some of the very best winemaking in the world!  Mendocino County is home to the mineral-laden terroir of the Yorkville Highlands and the cool coastal climate of the Anderson Valley. Yorkville Highlands has become known for its bold Bordeaux blends fueled by a toasty California climate.  During summer evenings, coastal fog blankets Anderson Valley vineyards and provides the perfect slow ripening conditions essential for Pinot Noir.  Both of these unique wine growing appelations can be toured on the way to the Coast Guard House by driving north on Highway 101 until you reach Cloverdale and taking Highway 128 west.

Another lovely alternate route to the Coast Guard House is to drive beneath the steep-sided sun-baked hills of the Dry Creek Valley where some of the very best Zinfandel grapes are grown. To reach the sublime Dry Creek region, continue north on Highway 101 and drive west on Dry Creek Valley Road through stunning vineyards, past Lake Sonoma, on to Annapolis and then north on Highway 1 to Point Arena.

These routes tend to take a little longer, but the excellent wine tasting and scenic beauty more than make up for it.
