Mendocino Coast Hiking

The Southern Mendocino Coast features spectacular and unspoiled public access beaches with Point Arena at the heart of this coastal beauty.   In early 2014, the Stornetta Public Lands and the Point Arena Ranch, a total of over 1600 acres was made a part of the California Coastal National Monument.  This designation will keep these pristine lands free from development and forever available for the public to enjoy.  Many of the hikes on this page are devoted to the exploration of this unique resource.  Those who stay at the Coast Guard House may use our access to the National Monument which is literally next door!

Driving the Pacific Coast Highway One, the mile markers at the side of the road begin at zero in Gualala at the Sonoma county border and get larger as you go north.  We use these mile markers to establish the locations of points of interest and trails. The junction of Highway One and Iversen Avenue at mile marker 15.00 will take you to the Coast Guard House and Arena Cove.
